The Selective High School Placement Test is the entrance exam allowing a small percentage

of children to enrol in unique 'Selective High Schools'. These high schools cater for the needs

of gifted and talented students who have superior academic ability and an exceptional

level of classroom performance.

  • Reading (40 mins) [45 questions]
  • Maths (40 mins) [40 questions]
  • General Ability (40 mins) [60 questions]
  • Writing (20 mins)


Eligibility






The Selective Test is open to all interested applicants, irrespective of where they live as selective high schools are unzoned.



✦ Test Preparation ✦



In our experience, students do have to receive some form training to have the required skills and discipline for the Selective Test. Furthermore, the content assessed is far more challenging than what most schools cover.


As such, it is advisable to prepare for the Selective Tests early. The tests are rigorous and competition is keen due to the limited availability of Selective High Schools.


Even though the Year 6 Selective Test may seem a long way off, it takes time for students to learn the basics and develop vital skills required to solve challenging questions.
